Mr William Forson is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist and Urogynaecologist with over 20 years of experience in women’s health. He provides comprehensive, personalised care for women with a wide range of gynaecological concerns, with a particular focus on listening to each patient’s individual needs and helping them make informed decisions about their treatment.
He has specialist interests in menstrual problems and heavy periods, fibroids, pelvic pain and endometriosis, menopause, prolapse and urinary incontinence, vulval conditions, fertility concerns and cervical abnormalities.
Mr Forson is experienced in both medical and surgical treatments and offers a wide range of gynaecological procedures, including hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, colposcopy, laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, hysterectomy and surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Wherever appropriate, he aims to offer patients the least invasive treatment option suitable for their individual circumstances.
Alongside his private practice, Mr Forson is a senior NHS clinical leader and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He has held senior medical leadership positions for more than a decade and has a particular interest in improving the quality and safety of women’s healthcare.
He is actively involved in research into cervical screening and HPV and has led research into HPV self-sampling, contributing to developments in cervical screening policy and practice in the UK.
Mr Forson also has a longstanding commitment to global health and medical education. He has taught healthcare professionals in West and Central Africa and is a faculty member at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His humanitarian work includes deployment to Türkiye with UK-Med as part of the UK Emergency Medical Team response following the devastating 2023 earthquakes.
