Dr Mara Sittampalam is an experienced and highly respected consultant neurologist with broad expertise in general neurology and neuroinflammatory conditions. She provides specialist diagnostic and management services for a wide range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy, first seizures, tremors, memory concerns, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease.
Based at Chase Lodge Hospital, with an NHS base at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Dr Sittampalam also leads a dedicated NHS clinic for pregnant women with epilepsy, offering personalised and safe care for patients with complex neurological needs. She frequently provides second opinions for individuals with suspected Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) or medically unexplained symptoms, ensuring comprehensive evaluation and clear, supportive guidance.
Dr Sittampalam earned her medical degree from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2002. She completed her core medical training in several leading London teaching hospitals before undertaking specialist neurology training and a clinical research fellowship at major neuroscience centres in the South West Peninsula and Edinburgh.
