What is K-Laser therapy?

The K-Laser is a state-of-the-art, Class IV laser that has been proven to penetrate tissue and initiate healing, demonstrating its clinical effectiveness. Where they are able to, our expert physiotherapists use it during a treatment session to help with recovery and reduce pain. This treatment not only initiates healing on a cellular level but also significantly reduces recovery time, allowing patients to accelerate healing and return to their normal activities more quickly and comfortably.

By enhancing the body’s natural regenerative functions and stimulating the release of endorphins and collagen, the K-Laser accelerates recovery and wound healing, and reduces stiffness, spasms, pain and swelling.

The laser may be used alongside your bespoke, phased rehabilitation programme to help you get the best results from treatment.

How K-Laser Works

K-Laser therapy employs a high-power laser to deliver targeted wavelengths of light deep into the affected tissues. This laser light penetrates the skin, reaching the underlying tissues to stimulate cellular processes and promote tissue healing. By increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation, K-Laser therapy enhances the production of ATP, the energy currency of cells, which is crucial for cellular repair and regeneration. This accelerated healing process not only reduces pain and inflammation but also promotes tissue repair, making K-Laser therapy an effective, non-invasive, and painless treatment for a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain and musculoskeletal disorders.

Before treatment

You are advised to wear loose fitting clothing; in some cases, you may need to undress but your dignity will always be maintained.

You will agree a treatment plan together with your physiotherapist; this may include a follow-up appointment.

Please note that we will not be able to use the K-Laser if you have a dark tattoo over the area of your pain as it can cause a burn.

During treatment

If you agree to using the K-Laser, the physiotherapist will explain the potential benefits and how it can be an effective method for pain management during your appointment. You will be seen by a chartered physiotherapist who has completed additional laser core knowledge training and gained their competency to use the K-Laser.

Everyone in the room will need to wear protective goggles to avoid any potential eye injury from the laser beam. The blind and door will be closed, preventing anyone else from entering the room and risking exposing their eyes to the laser beam.

You may experience a pleasant, warm, relaxing sensation during the treatment.

After treatment

After your treatment, you may experience immediate or gradual pain relief as your body begins to heal. Inflammation and swelling should start to decrease as blood flow and cellular repair are stimulated. You might also notice increased mobility as stiffness and discomfort subside. Some people feel a mild warming or tingling sensation in the treated area due to improved circulation and nerve stimulation. The healing process continues even after your session, so it’s important to allow your body time to recover. While you can usually resume normal activities right away, avoiding excessive strain on the treated area will help maximise the benefits. Multiple sessions may be needed for long-term relief.
