PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Dr Akhtar is a General Practitioner with over 20 years of experience as a doctor and more than 15 years working in General Practice. She qualified from Imperial College London and completed all of her postgraduate training in and around London. Dr Akhtar was awarded her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice in 2011.

Throughout her career, Dr Akhtar has worked in a wide range of clinical settings and spent six years as a GP partner in a busy, well-regarded training practice. She provides care across the full spectrum of General Practice, including the treatment of children, with particular interests in women’s health and mental health. Dr Akhtar is passionate about supporting women through all stages of life, and takes a compassionate, thoughtful approach to managing mental health concerns.

Her focus is always on providing safe, evidence-based, and truly patient-centred care. Dr Akhtar believes in listening carefully, building trust, and working collaboratively with each patient to find the right path forward for their individual needs and lifestyle.

Dr Akhtar stays up to date through continuous professional development by attending regular courses, conferences and educational events. She ensures her practice is safe and peer reviewed through annual appraisal and revalidation.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Akhtar holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Primary Care. She also holds additional qualifications in women’s health, child health, and sexual and reproductive health. Dr Akhtar has trained pharmacists to become independent prescribers, mentored GP trainees and Nurse Practitioners, and taught medical students from both Imperial College London and King’s College London.

Outside of work, she enjoys running and yoga, which helps her stay active and balanced, and she loves to spend time baking for friends and family—something that brings her great joy and relaxation. Dr Akhtar is heavily involved in her children’s school PTA and has organised and supported numerous charity events, both locally and through her professional networks.

If you are looking for a GP who combines medical expertise with a kind and thoughtful approach, Dr Akhtar would be delighted to support you in managing your health and wellbeing.
