Building Works at One Stop Healthcare

Hemel 4 – What to Expect

You may have noticed some changes starting to take place around the building at One Stop Healthcare. We’re pleased to share that these works are part of an exciting expansion project designed to improve our facilities and allow us to care for even more patients in the future.

This is our fourth expansion project, known as “Hemel 4”, and it represents a major investment in improving patient access, experience and clinical capacity.

What’s Changing?

Over the coming months, we’ll be expanding and improving several areas of the hospital, including:

  • A new and expanded Endoscopy department
  • A new Physiotherapy unit
  • Additional outpatient consultation rooms
  • Improved waiting areas for patients and visitors

These developments will allow us to treat more patients and continue providing high-quality care for our community as demand grows.

When Will the Works Take Place?

The programme is expected to run for approximately 13 months, from March 2026 through to spring 2027.

The work will be carried out in phases to help minimise disruption and ensure the hospital can continue operating safely throughout the build.

The Hospital Will Remain Open

Importantly, all services will continue to operate as normal during the building works. Our teams will remain available, and appointments will continue as planned.

To keep everyone safe and maintain access to services, the construction will be carefully managed with temporary routes and staged work areas.

Temporary Changes You May Notice

During the first phase of the works, there will be some adjustments to how patients access and move around the building. These will include:

  • The main entrance relocated adjacent to the roadside while the usual entrance is closed
  • Adjusted reception and waiting areas
  • Temporary relocation of some services, including GP services
  • Changes to internal routes, supported by clear signage and wayfinding
  • Temporary changes to car parking to prioritise patient access

Clear signage, maps, and guidance will be available throughout the building to help you find your way.

Noise and Disruption

As with any construction project, there will unfortunately be some noise and disruption at times. Our teams and contractors are working hard to minimise this wherever possible, including using acoustic barriers and carefully scheduling the noisiest works.

Keeping You Informed

We will continue to share updates as the project progresses, including information about any changes that may affect patients visiting the hospital.

Thank you for your patience while carry out these building works at One Stop Healthcare. Once complete, the expansion will significantly enhance our facilities and help us continue delivering excellent care for many years to come.

If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to a member of staff when visiting the hospital, or contact the Hemel 4 Project Management Team.
